Beautiful male Cynthia's Fritillary.

Our tour Butterflies of the Balkans – Bulgaria, Macedonia and Greece has just finished. In only two weeks 142 species of butterflies we have been recorded. Highlights included Eastern Greenish Black-tip, Macedonian Grayling, Freyer’s Grayling, Phalakron Blue, Dewy Ringlet, Bulgarian Ringlet, the Hermit, Camberwell Beauty and many others. On the last day we have seen more than 25 Cynthia’s Fritillaries, including some females. 16 species of dragonflies and damselflies, as well as orchids were also recorded, as well as many birds. Weather was very favorable with only the first day of the trip being rainy.

Detailed trip report and tour checklist will be available on the tour page very soon.
