Butterflies of Poland - successful first tour!
Our first Butterflies of Poland tour has just finished. In less than two weeks 72 species of butterflies we have been recorded, which is nearly a half of all Poland butterfly species and despite of the very wet weather. Highlights includes False Ringlet, Woodland Brown, Scarce Large Blue, Cranberry Blue, Cranberry Fritillary, Moorland Clouded Yellow, Large Chequered Skipper, Large Copper, Alcon Blue, Geranium Argus, Large Heath, Rock Grayling, Purple Emperor, Lesser Purple Emperor, Large Tortoiseshell, Pale Clouded Yellow, Clouded Apollo, False Heath Fritillary, Dusky Meadow Brown. One day we have seen more than 20 Camberwell Beauties near a peat-bog, but also posing nicely on the tree trunks or bare ground. Many interesting and rare dragonflies were also recorded, as well as many birds and flowers. Detailed trip report and tour checklist will be available on the website shortly.
Dates for the 2019 tour are Wednesday Sunday 23rd June - Friday 5th July 2019
